I can remember the days of listening to podcasts through iTunes before it supported RSS feeds. I used a free aggregator called PlayPod that would download the shows and then I'd have to manually drag them into iTunes. A lot of extra work and a bit of a hassle. Also, there was no audio bookmarking then so if you stopped listening part way through, you'd have to search around to find where you left off.
