We're Still Here, Sort Of

Ah the "auto-renew". Got caught with a hefty domain name renewal which, let's face it, didn't need to happen, all because I'd got auto renew checked.

Well I've now unchecked the "auto-renew" button and from this time next year ddlpodshow.com and ddlpodshow.co.uk will no-longer work. You will still be able to reach this site via ddlpodcast.blogspot.com and the YouTube videos will stay up.

"Podshow" has long, long ago been shut down so keeping that name is irrelevant anyway.

Should we get the podcasting bug back we'll likely go for a re-branding, or maybe not, who knows.

But then, what would we have to talk about, so little has happened since our last recording in 2019...

Happy Holidays

To anyone that's still reading this have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Last October we had the privilege of attending Siglerfest in Las Vegas. This episode is a recap of our 10 days spent in America.

We can't count! The missing shows from the blog meant we thought this was 146, then we found 146 and thought it was 147, then I found 147 so the labelling is right but despite Lance's after recording edit it still says 147.

In this, the first recording of the new reboot, we discuss the changes in recording technology, walking the river Wey, and Google's new gaming service.

Catching up with a few episodes that didn't get posted... from 2017! You'd have only seen this if you follow us on YouTube.
We'll be sorting out audio only versions to keep everything in sync.
In this episode Lance and Darren talk about "The Last Jedi". If you've not seen it by now then (you're not missing much) beware that we do talk about the film in depth with lots of spoilers.

No More Dumbing Down

First and foremost, don't panic! Your annual bursts of podcasts from Doug, Darren and Lance are not going away.

We've never claimed to be a political podcast and tend to try to avoid any controversial topics in preference to light hearted, popular culture topics such as technology, film, TV and games. In recent years there's been a stigma attached to the concept of "Dumbing Down" which we feel gives the title an image we don't want to be associated with.

We went through a lot of work to design a logo that we were happy with. Fortunately the acronym "D.D.L" which we chose for the logo is something which not only stood for dumbed down life but also is the initials of the original hosts Doug, Darren and Lance.

There's still references to "Dumbed Down Life" all over the place, in past posts, file names, URL and on iTunes. These will take time to replace.

From now the site can be reached at http://ddlpodcast.com and http://ddlpodcast.co.uk

When we started the podcast social media was in it's infancy with blogs, micro-blogs and news services being the main way of staying in touch. Facebook and Twitter did not exist! Yes we've been going that long!

Changing domain name should not mean much of an impact on listening to our show and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sticking with us through these changes...

both of you!

A special show this week, video only as listening to the two of us playing Star Wars won't make much sense unless you watch the video.

Lance and Darren both recorded separate game videos then Lance expertly edited them both together.
